The Paganini Ensemble Wien is a Viennese chamber ensemble built around the violin repertoire of Niccolò Paganini. INFIGO built their website: a quiet, editorial site in English and German, from a designer’s layout, with concerts at the centre.
01 · The context
A musician’s site has one reader that matters at a time.
A listener wants the next concert. A journalist wants press material and photographs. A programmer wants recordings and repertoire. None of them wants to dig - and a site for artists at this level has to feel as considered as the music, which mostly means knowing what to leave out.
02 · The build
Elegance is mostly discipline.
The design came from a designer and was implemented as drawn - the typography, the photography, the space between things. Underneath it is a plain, maintainable WordPress build: concerts, discography, press and media as content the ensemble edits themselves, in two languages, without touching the layout.
That division of labour is the point. The design stays intact because updating content never requires editing design.
03 · The long haul
Live, in season and out.
The site runs at paganiniensemblewien.com today, on this build - carrying each season’s dates as they come.
